Blogs build identity, ownership and online learning

Posted by onlineteachernetwork on 5th October 2007

If you’re winding down this Friday, then set aside 11 minutes and 23 seconds to watch this video by Sue Waters of James Farmer talking about identity, ownership and online learning, as part of Leigh Blackall’s 10 minute lecture series.

I think this is going to become one of our core resources for our flexbile learning sessions with teachers! Thanks to you all! :)

Happy Friday!

Alan’s keeping an “Aussie” blog for his tour, CogDogRoo.

Two topics Alan will discuss:

(i) “Being there” – being actively present in your online courses and approaching educational technologies with a sense of ‘wonder’, and

(ii) Trying out those Web 2.0 gems – just something small to get you started – Flickr, Delicious, YouTube, whatever!

More info via the AFLF website. Registration is a MUST!

We’ll see you there ;o)

FLS Workshop conducted: Recording and editing audio

Posted by colinsimpson on 16th May 2007

When: 12.30pm – 2.30pm Friday May 11
Where: D120 Reid
Who: 5 teachers (from Faculty of B.I.T and T.H.M)
What: Recording and Editing audio and adding it to WebCT courses.

This was a fairly straightforward workshop. Once teachers had their headsets properly connected to the computers, we worked through the process of using Audacity to record and edit sound.

We went on to explore what needed to be done with Audacity to have it export the finished files as MP3s and then looked at different options for adding audio files to WebCT.

Teachers were largely happy to follow the how-to handouts at their own pace, asking for help when it was needed.

At the end of the workshop all participants were happy to have refreshed their previous PD training in this area and to have found solutions to some problems they had been having with audio.
