CIT E-learning Forum: The Social Web
Posted by onlineteachernetwork on 28th June 2006
Write this one in your diary: July 14, 2006 – 9.30am – 12.30pm: Forum on the Social Web!
Where? J28 Reid Campus, CIT
Why? Well, with the increasing adoption of weblogs and wikis in education, along with the boom in web services which promote the social web (or Web 2.0) it’s high time we ramped up the discussion at CIT too!
FLS and CIT teachers have been trialing some approaches, from mobile learning, to blogs and wikis, and now we have this opportunity to spread the word – and our experiences!
To help us on our way will be guest speaker, Leigh Blackall (Otago Polytechnic, Dunedin NZ), who will share his knowledge about and experience with social web tools.
Leigh will open the forum with an introduction to the Social Web, what it is and how it impacts teaching and learning.
The closing session will bring it all together, showcasing the power of tagging and subscriptions (think RSS and newsfeeds)!
Care to join us? Call 73833 to register your interest or talk to Marg on 74329 or by email: Margaret.O’Connell @ cit.act.edu.au.We look forward to seeing you there!
